End of year Pool Day

We chucked our masks on and leapt onto the bus. It was going to be  fun as day. When we arrived Nikau and I threw off our t-shirts and spirinted over to the dive pool to pop some fat as manus.

It was starting to get cold so we jumped out to have a feed, Nikau fell asleep within five minutes, while I dived back in to have some shoulder wars with Ken and Hemi. Next we went to pop some more fat ones and to watch the bottle pops.

A little while later, we jumped back on the bus and cruised back to school to have a sausage sizzle and to play some games. It was a mean as day!

The Harold Van

                            The Harold Van

Today our class went to the Harold van to talk about peer pressure it was quite interesting. Firstly we lined outside our class an walked down to the van, a lady called Joanne and introduced herself. she told us to take off our shoes and come up the stairs.

Next we all sat down on the mat and she began to tell us about what we were going to do to with our time. We started of by making a peer pressure choice we put some sheets of paper on the wall and split the class into pairs, we all had two pieces of paper and the pieces of paper on the wall asked you a question: what a good friend doe's and what a bad friend doe's, and then she would ask us which side did you pick and why. Then we answered her she would ask us why you did it.

I found the Harold van pretty cool and hope I will go there again!

Show Don't Tell The Drop...

 Show Don't Tell     The Drop...

Before:

Butterflies flew in my stomach, I was scared.

After:

Sweat trickled down my forehead, blood pumped rapidly through my veins. The canyon stretched out before me as daunting and as deep as ever.

I could distantly hear the crowd and commentators yelling and screaming animatedly as they seemed far away.  The crowd screamed at me to go, my whole life had been leading up to this moment of time… It was time to make the drop.

The Moa

Walt: Tightening tension and sizzling start

Over the last couple of weeks, the class has been working on making sizzling starts and tightening tension. It has been super fun I really enjoyed making my ancient Aotearoa story. I hope you like it

The Moa

Thump, Thump, Thump! The Moa ran across the plain adrenaline pumped through her ancient but muscular legs. Up ahead the eagle screamed with rage, he wasn’t going to stop until she was dead.

She had to get back to her eggs but first, she needed to be in the cover of the punga ferns. 75mm talons viciously tore at her back. Feathers flew into the air and fell down like raindrops. She Screamed with blind pain, blood oozing through her feathers.

Her large body stumbled through the shade of the punga, her vision was blurred, the gash was deep. She tripped over a thick pohutukawa root, her head smacked back down onto the ice-cold earth. Her eyes slowly focused on the beautiful speckled eggs, reality slowly clicked in, she would never see her eggs hatch. Sadness overwhelmed her as her life slowly faded away...

Deconstructed Recount

Show, Don’t Tell

Deconstructed Recount

Write about your adventures these holidays!

Your classmates will try to guess what you did based on your description.

WRITE ABOUT IT

DRAW A PICTURE

SEE

I saw tabletops and technical drops and slopes. Tacty and dusty ground perfect for mountain biking. I saw the dusty shuttle, along with Yaz, Pete, Cheeky and with large grins on their faces. I saw blood pumping through my veins.

HEAR

I heard my heart thumping in my ears, I heard Ken snoring on the way home. I heard Pete swearing as Ken crashed into him. I heard the steady thump of the shuttle roaring down the road.

TASTE

I tasted sour blood that flowed from my tongue. I tasted a sweet Lollie for energy. I tasted hot watery mud as Pete splashed me with his back wheel.

WRITE ABOUT IT

DRAW A PICTURE

SMELL

I smelt sweaty humans around me. I smelt rot as I hopped over a rotten log. I smelt the hot strong air of Ngaa whai springs. I smelt the dusty air of the shuttle.

FEEL

I felt blood trickle down my leg into my sock. I felt sweat trickle from my hair onto my forehead.  I felt the adrenaline pumping through my veins. I felt the whoosh of air fly past my ears.

Walt: deconstructed recount

For the last week, we have been making a denconstructed recount, it has been fun because we have to guess what each others stroy are about. I think it has been super fun! Watching people get frustrated over trying to work out what you're writing! I hope you enjoy my blog post.
